Barnett is a leading security geopolitical strategist and <em>New York Times</em> bestselling author, who has worked in U.S. national security circles since the end of the Cold War. His latest book, <em>America’s New Map: Restoring Our Global Leadership</em> <em>in an Era of Climate Change and Demographic Collapse</em> (September 2023) analyzes the current geopolitical landscape and decodes the complexities of today’s world.</p><p>Barnett’s mission is to help global leaders visualize how the converging forces of geopolitical realities, climate change, technology, and demographic shifts will affect every field and industry over the next century.</p><p>Barnett is known for his work at the Naval War College and at the Office of Force Transformation in the Department of Defense under the direction of the late Vice Admiral Arthur K. Cebrowski (U.S. Navy, Ret.)—the father of “network-centric warfare.”</p><p>After 9/11, Thomas joined Cebrowski’s new Office of Force Transformation in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as his Assistant for Strategic Futures. In that capacity, he developed an influential brief on globalization and international security, which later morphed into a <em>New York Times</em>-bestselling book, <em>The Pentagon’s New Map</em> (2004). Thomas extended his “New Map” series with the volumes <em>Blueprint for Action</em> (2005) and<em> Great Powers </em>(2009).</p><p>An award-winning professor, Barnett has authored more than 500 publications and written for numerous publications including<em> Wired</em>, the <em>National Review</em>, and the <em>Washington Post</em>. He was a contributing editor for <em>Esquire </em>magazine and wrote a weekly online column for <em>World Politics Review</em>. Additionally, he was a former blogger on current global events for <em>Time</em> and <em>Esquire</em>.
